Communications Analytics

Open Project

For my communications management internship with the Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures Department at Michigan State University (WRAC), I was responsible for co-creating and implementing a new communications strategy for three newly merged departments (first year writing, undergraduate Professional Writing, and graduate Rhetoric & Writing). At the end of the semester, I gathered analytic reports from various sources including Google Analytics to assess our success on implementing the strategy.

I specifically looked at Twitter and MailChimp, collected data, and came up with a summary report on what the findings meant for WRAC and recommendations for the future. I collaborated on a final report including data from Twitter, Facebook, MailChimp, Google Analytics, and a department survey in order to help future interns use these sources to reach the highest number of people and provide helpful information to a departmental and global audience. I co-presented this report to the chairs of the department alongside my fellow intern, Laurel Sutherland, and immediate supervisor, Mike McLeod.
